Product Overview

The Allen-Bradley 1756-RM2 is a high-performance Redundancy Module designed for the ControlLogix platform. It provides the critical link between two identical chassis, enabling a high-availability system where one chassis acts as the primary and the other as a synchronized secondary. In the event of a fault, the 1756-RM2 facilitates a seamless switchover, ensuring zero downtime for critical infrastructure like oil platforms, power plants, or continuous chemical processes.

At Xiongba Automation, we specialize in the "Reliability Business." We understand that a 1756-RM2 is only as good as its ability to synchronize perfectly. For our trading partners, we provide Verified Hardware that has been inspected for the physical and electronic integrity required by mission-critical redundant architectures.

Technical Role & Connectivity:

  • Function: Real-time data synchronization between dual chassis.

  • Interface: High-speed fiber optic ports (LC Connector).

  • Compatibility: Designed for use with L7 and L8 series controllers in redundancy bundles.

  • Scan Time: Significantly reduced switchover times compared to the legacy 1756-RM.

Verification & Risk Control

In a redundancy setup, even a tiny defect can cause a "System Desync." Xiongba Automation enforces a 5-step audit for the 1756-RM2:

  1. Fiber Port Optical Inspection: We use specialized tools to check the LC fiber ports for scratches or dust. Clean optics are vital for the high-speed laser sync between modules.

  2. Firmware Consistency Check: We provide high-resolution photos of the 1756-RM2 labels. In redundancy, Matching Revisions is mandatory. We help you verify that your pair of modules is compatible with your specific Redundancy Firmware Bundle.

  3. Gold Finger Audit: We inspect the backplane connectors for perfect conductivity, ensuring the module communicates reliably with the chassis.

  4. 12-Month Hardware Warranty: 1-year B2B warranty is standard. Note: This covers hardware failure. It does not cover "Sync Failures" caused by mismatched firmware versions or incompatible PLC CPUs.

  5. Neutral Shipping: We offer discreet, unbranded packaging to protect our intermediaries' client relationships.

Project Lifecycle Support

Tendering Stage (Bidding): Quoting for a "No-Downtime" factory upgrade? We provide formal quotes and technical compliance data for the 1756-RM2 to ensure your bid meets the high-availability specs.

  1. Procurement Stage (Real Order):

    • The "Pair" Strategy: We recommend purchasing 1756-RM2 in pairs from the same batch to ensure maximum compatibility. Ask us about our "Redundancy Pair" discount.

    • Live Video Verification: We can show both modules powering up, demonstrating the status LEDs (Prim/Sec) to give you total confidence before dispatch.

FAQ

Q: Can I use one 1756-RM and one 1756-RM2 together? A: No. You must use two identical modules (two RM2s) for a redundancy pair. Mixing different generations will cause synchronization errors.

Q: Do you provide the fiber optic synchronization cables? A: We primarily supply the 1756-RM2 hardware modules. If you require the 1756-RMCx cables (e.g., 1m, 3m, or 10m), please specify the length in your RFQ, and we will check our accessory inventory.

Q: Why isn't my system synchronizing even though the hardware is new? A: Redundancy is 90% firmware and configuration. You must use a specific "Redundancy Bundle" firmware from Rockwell. Xiongba Automation supplies the Hardware Only; the complex task of firmware flashing and system synchronization is the responsibility of your site engineer.
